Although this video shows a female perspective of how to move on from a broken relationship, it should help anyone, regardless of their sexual status. The following are 6 steps to being single and happy after a broken relationship.

Step 1

Allow yourself to grieve.  Allow yourself to wallow in the loss. Do a Bridget Jones if you want. Eat chocolates, stay in your pyjamas Listen to sad music It’s okay to do this.

Step 2

However, when you feel that enough is enough, Pick yourself up, rather than pining for the lost relationship; start by concentrating on the relationship with yourself. Start working on your self-worth and self-esteem. Ask yourself questions Were there red flags that I overlooked? What have I learnt about myself from this relationship?

Step 3

Focus on your non-romantic relationships, family and friends. And of course, your fur friends as well

Step 4

Distractions: – Join the gym, – start new hobbies. – Join a night class. – Plan a weekend away with a friend. Establish new habits and new traditions.

Step 5

Do things alone. Don’t be afraid to do things by yourself. Of course, it’s always nice to do things with a friend. However, you can still find joy in being on your own too.

Step 6

Don’t rush into a rebound relationship. Wait until you start to feel better about yourself. Only then will you be ready to meet someone new.
