HOW TO STOP BEING ANXIOUS AND OVERTHINK EVERYTHING.

FIRST STEP – AWARENESS

Hi everyone, my name is Polly, and I’m not having a good day! I can’t stop overthinking,

I worry about everything and I need help.

 

SECOND STEP –  SEEKING HELP

I was fortunate I confided in a good friend. She was aware of my negative attitude. She advised me to change the way I spoke to myself, as I was always telling myself that something bad was about to happen. I could never see the great things that were happening around me, as I always concentrated on the negative stuff. By changing my internal dialogue I started to change my mood. It wasn’t easy at first, but I stuck to it.

THIRD STEP – CHALLENGING YOUR THOUGHTS

Once I became aware of the impact these negative thoughts had on me it was much easier to challenge them. I would ask myself are there any evidence to substantiate this negative thought? The funny thing was, there were rarely ever was!

FOURTH STEP –  DISTRACTIONS

I would then replace it with an alternative statement that was the truth. In no time at all, I started to feel better and more energised. I found that by distracting myself with different activities helped  overthinking:  eg attended the local swimming pool.  : took my dog for brisk walks in the forest. : started a night class and met so many interesting people. Today I feel like a different person.

FIFTH STAGE – MOVING ON

I am so grateful for everything. In fact, life is good.
